Wang Zi Yi, born in Shangxi, is a Chinese singer and a member of the Chinese band BBT (Boom Boom Taker). He is signed under Simply Joy Music. In 2018, Zi Yi participated in iQiyi's survival show, Idol Producer, as a trainee. He ranked 7th and debuted with Nine Percent. On July 13, 2018, Wang Zi Yi made his debut as a solo artist under his stage name BOOGIE, releasing his first single, "AMH," which placed 11th in the Billboard charts in China. Nine Percent released two studio albums, "To the Nines" and "More Than Forever", before disbanding on October 6, 2019. On October 12, 2019, Nine Percent held their final farewell concert in Guangzhou, China. He has also released four non-album singles in 2020: "Yessir," "99," "First Sight," and "Come Here.". In 2021, he released two singles: "Candy Sweater" and "TAP TAP". He made his acting debut in 2020's drama "We Are All Alone." On May 31, 2021, Wang Zi Yi was revealed to have lost his lawsuit against his label, Simply Joy Music. The lawsuit was filed on grounds that his label had defaulted on various contractual terms. However, his contract termination attempt was ruled as invalid by the Beijing Chaoyang District Court. Zi Yi has since revealed his intention to appeal against the decision in a separate court.
