Shim Soo Chang is a South Korean retired relief pitcher and broadcaster. He graduated from Baemyung High School where he was scouted by several US baseball teams as a possible ace when he helped his team earn 2nd place in the 1999 President's Cup National Championship. Unfortunately, the negotiations yielded no contracts and he was selected by the LG Twins of the Korean Baseball League in the 2000 draft. However, he rejected the offer to turn pro and decided to enroll in Hanyang University instead. He represented the junior South Korean baseball team and secured 5th place at the 2002 World University Baseball Championship in Italy. A year later, he was selected to play at the 2003 Asian Baseball Championship in Japan but injuries kept him off the roster. He graduated university in 2004 and made his professional debut with the LG Twins but only played in 16 games as a relief pitcher. After another disappointing season in 2005, he finally earned more playing time in 2006 and was selected to the 2006 KBO All-Star Game. Between 2009 and 2011 he set the record of most consecutive losing decisions (both as starter and reliever) when he lost 17 straight times. He was traded to the Nexen Heroes in 2011 but immediately lost his 18th straight game. He was traded to the Lotte Giants in 2014 but his performances continued to decline and he thought about retiring but kept playing. In 2015, he signed as a free agent with the Hanwha Eagles playing 3 seasons with them before returning to the LG Twins for one last season before retiring at the end of 2019. He was hired by MBC Sports+ as a baseball commentator in 2020. (Source : Namu Wiki)
