Description: Kumamoto Monogatari is a 2002 DVD release which included three short historical films directed by Takashi Miike, depicting the lives people who lived in Kumamoto, each of which is set sometime in the past. The first story revolves around a young woman who summons a magical being to defeat an invading army, a typical example of how sexual rolemodels tie in to national pride: the girl becomes the Heroine by sacrificing herself ultimately to the masculine destiny of the nation and its Boys, Husbands and Heroes.
